3. Regular service is crucial towards keeping your septic system in working order. Have your tank pumped every 3 to 5 years. If you have a effluent filter, you need to clean it at least once a year.

4. On new systems, you might encounter some odors as the new bacteria builds. There is no need to be alarmed when this happens, simply wait it out.
